Maru Mail terms of service

These terms apply to the optional Maru account service operated by The Creative Co. Marketing Firm LLC. The Maru app is free and AGPL. Its software license remains separate from these service terms.
The service
A Maru account can sync encrypted settings and account credentials across supported devices. The service stores ciphertext that it cannot read. Mail never reaches the service.
You must provide an email and protect your password and recovery key. You are responsible for activity from your signed-in devices.
Trial, price, and billing
The optional Maru account costs $5 a month or $50 a year after a 14-day trial with no card up front. Billing is through Stripe on the web.
Your plan continues until you cancel it. Stripe shows the renewal date before payment. You can manage or cancel the plan through the web billing portal.
We provide refunds on request within fourteen days of the first charge. Send the request from your account email to support@getmaru.app.
Password and recovery key
If you lose both your password and your recovery key, your vault is unrecoverable and support cannot help. The service does not hold a key that can open your vault.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to:
- Break the law or violate another person's rights.
- Attack, probe, overload, or disrupt the service or another user's access.
- Bypass access controls or use another person's account without permission.
- Distribute malware or use the service to abuse Google, Apple, Stripe, or another provider.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change the service to improve security, comply with law, or protect users.
We will give reasonable notice of material term or price changes when the law permits. A new price will not apply before the next renewal after that notice.
Termination
You can cancel billing or delete your account at any time. You can export your data and delete your account through the app.
We may suspend or terminate service access for illegal use, material breach of these terms, or a threat to users or the service. We will give notice when practical and lawful.
When a trial or paid plan ends, the app remains free and AGPL. You can still read, export, and delete your account data. The service can stop accepting new vault changes.
Service limits
To the extent the law permits, the service is provided without implied warranties. The Creative Co. Marketing Firm LLC is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss.
These limits do not remove rights that applicable law does not allow us to waive.
